If you recall the phrase I used from the title, you already know I am at least over 40--- but that doesn't change my initial hostility towards any extra filtration. Having worked many years ago for NASA, I have enough science background to realise any chemical filter can potentially add other minute chemicals as the water is passed through the filter. Since my son gave this to me as a Christmas gift, I was anxious to at least try it out to see if I could taste a difference in the coffee.
I have been a coffee drinker since age 5 as it was prescribed by physicians as a diuretic in the years before dialysis (circa 1950). I was pleasantly surprised that not only was the usual bitter taste removed from the coffee using the filter, but I could keep the coffee warmed for a much longer time without that "burned" flavour when coffee sits for too long.
Bottom line? I would certainly recommend the reader give these filters a try. I can only comment on my own experience: which is why I am purchasing a pack of 6 coffee filters today for my Mr. Coffee machine.
By the way, I only drink coffee now for pleasure, having received a successful kidney transplant over 37 years ago.
