I'm on well water which sometimes tastes flat and also seems to have a high calcium content (the white crud that collects in your pipes). I wouldn't use a filter if it weren't for that. I've seen the stuff that collects on these filters and it's worth it to have great tasting coffee. I change it every other month (or when the white crud is REALLY noticeable on the filter).
